I just finished reading through Stephen’s latest letter. It was attractive. Not just the subject material, however the long-lost (neglected?) encounter. Such a joy to read through a real letter. Exact with every one of the other folks. There is certainly a little something distinct about it. Substantially distinctive. E-mails can reveal all sorts of remarkable stories, feelings, ideas, (even images!) but the head scans them. Even if email messages are browse about and about once again. The brain automatically diminishes them and relegates them to some several notches over a fax. But a letter. Checking the mail and seeing an envelope. Now that is something. Specially if it is just one that one continues to be awaiting for. It feels like an ingot currently being injected into your spine. There exists a physical reaction. There exists a ritual to opening a letter. It does not deserve for being torn open during the put up office or the car. Not these letters. They’re for someplace else. Someplace where a single can devote time, engaged inside of a ritual. This early morning I walked exterior with Stephen’s letter. I looked for the trees. Up on the sky. Breathed in slow. He processed the views. “I will sit to the couch, up coming to my dad.” If he could make the conclusion to sit down with me, and appear to me, and invest time with me, vs. every one of the excellent items he could be executing with his time, then he at least justifies for me to spend a moment to speak with him, and rub his back again. He does not not know what is from the envelope. But he does know that I took some time to try and do one thing that I rarely do. Sit down. Sit again. Slow down. Cats understand this. Cats are smart sufficient to accomplish this. They established an example that most men and women rarely follow. That may be, persons who really should follow the example. Not folks with absolutely nothing to perform, but persons with far too substantially to complete. Who must take time to recharge their batteries. Following a moment, I stopped petting him but I kept my elbow on him, and produced convinced I kept touching him with my arm, since to him that is adequate. He likes to grasp that I am right here. Cats love to hear our voices after we talk to them. Cats love to be touched. Some people meditate. Lots of people do yoga. A number of people sit at the beach and close their eyes. I’m not guaranteed if any of all those things have more value then merely sitting using a cat and hearing your feline good friend purr. Cats are special. Letters within the mail are special. And so there I had been. I leaned back. Looked with the letter. And began to read through.
